–Omeruo returns for Boro
Chinedu Obasi marked his first start for Schalke 04 of Germany this term with a goal and an assist in Roberto Di Matteo’s men hard fought 4-3 win over Sporting Lisbon at the Parkstadion.
The Nigerian scored on 34 minutes,heading in from the center of the box to the bottom right corner following a Dennis Aogo cross from a free kick to draw Schalke level after on loan Manchester United winger,Nani had put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute.
Obasi would later turn provider for Dutch international,Klaas Jan Huntelaar in the 51st minute to put the homers ahead before Benedikt Hoewedes added the third nine minutes later.
The Super Eagle was later sustituted in the 65th minute in what was his sixth game of the season for the Gelsenkirchen-based club in Germany. In England,Odion Ighalo scored his third goal in 10 games for his English Championship side,Watford who twice gave up the lead in their 2-2 draw with Nothimgham Forest at Vicarage Road.
Ighalo fired Watford in front on 29 minutes but the celebration lasted only two minutes as Michail Anthonio restored parity for the visitors.
Watford went in front again after the restart (52 minutes) but once again failed to hod onto it as Anthonio again evened scores in the 67th minute.
At the Molineux Ground in Wolverhampton,Kenneth Omeruo returned to reckoning for visiting Middlesbrough but could offer no resistance as homers,Wolves pounded Aitor Karanka’s men 2-0. It was the Nigerian’s 11th appearance of the season for the Riverside outfit.
Former Eagles centre half, Danny Shittu was overlooked once again as Millwall forced their host, Wigan Athletic to a goalless draw at the JJB Stadium. Shittu has featured only once for Ian Holloway’s side so far this term and that was way back on Tuesday August 12 in Millwall’s 1-0 defeat of Wycombe at The Den in a Capital One Cup game.
