ROUND-UP: Ogbeche, Sadiq On Target; Balogun, Ujah, Osimhen Crash Out Of German Cup

Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche returned to scoring ways on Wednesday for Willem II in their 3-0 thumping of VVV-Venlo in a Dutch Eredivisie League game, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ogbeche who was without a goal in his last four games shot his side into the lead on the stroke of half time. Ogbeche last scored a goal in Willem II’s 2-2 draw against Vitesse.

The strike was his ninth Eredivisie goal in 12 appearances this term and his 12th in 16 games in all competitions.

Ben Rienstra doubled the lead for Willem II in the 48th minute before Jordy Croux wrapped up the victory in the 53rd minute.

Willem II will face Heracles who lost 6-1 to NAC Breda on Wednesday in their next league game on Saturday.

At the Rat Verlegh Stadion, Nigeria’s Rio 2016 star Umar Sadiq scored on his debut for NAC Breda who spanked 10-man Heracles 6-1. The former Nigeria U-23s striker, who is on loan from AS Roma, came on for Mitchell te Vrede in the 80th minute to seal the win in the 90th minute of the encounter. Tim Breukers was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 74th minute.

In the German DFB Pokal Cup, Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah made his first start for Mainz 05 who lost 3-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals of the competition. The Nigerian striker was replaced after 56 minutes by Emil Berggreen. It was Ujah’s second appearance since he rejoined in January. Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun replaced injured Alexander Hack in the 63rd minute in the game.

Victor Osimhen played the final ten minutes for Wolfsburg who crashed out of the competition by losing 1-0 away to Schalke 04 in the quarter-finals. Osimhen replaced Joshua Guilavogui in the 80th minute.
