Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu has said he is honoured to be invited by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
Ogu and club teammate Anthony Nwakaeme are part of the 23-man squad released by Rohr on Tuesday for the double header against the reigning African champions.
Both Ogu and Nwakaeme were in the Hapoel Be’er Sheva team that crashed out of this year’s UEFA Champions League in the hands of Maribor of Slovenia on Tuesday.
Commenting on his invitation, Ogu stated that he will not disappoint if given the chance to play.
“Always a privilege to be selected by the Coach of the national team and @thenff to represent my Country. I will always give my 100%,” he wrote on his Twitter on Wednesday.
Ogu was part of the Eagles squad that lost 2-0 to South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.
