Enyimba head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote says the club has made steady progress under his tutelage this season following their absymal campaign in Nigeria Professional Football League campaign last term, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Peoples Elephants surrendered their title to South-East rivals, Enugu Rangers last season and finished in a disappointing ninth position in the table.
They have recorded three wins, one draw and a defeat from their opening five games this season and sit in fourth position in the table.
Ogunbote while admitting it is still too early to talk about winning the title, is confident his team will better last season performance in the NPFL.
"If you assess our performance from last season and what we have done in the five games we have played so far, you will see that things have improved for us," Ogunbote who has also worked with NPFL sides; Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We know we cannot afford to put in another bad performance like we did last season which is one reason why we have all resolved to give our all this season.
" The league is a marathon and we have to keep fighting until the end of the season.
"I don't think it will be right to start talking about winning the title at this early stage of the season, but we are going to give our all to make our supporters happy."
The former African champions will face El-Kanemi Warriors in a matchday-six fixture on Sunday in Maiduguri.
