Former home-based Super Eagles striker, Gabriel Okechukwu has joined CAF Champions League winners, Wydad Casablanca, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
He previously played in Ukraine for Karpaty where he scored one goal in six games before rejoining Akwa United.
Okechukwu was a member of the home-based Super Eagles that won silver medal at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in January after losing to hosts Morocco in the final. He scored against Angola and Sudan in the tournament.
The former Akwa United striker Okechukwu signed a four-year deal with with the Moroccan outfit and will earn $300,000 a year, it was also revealed.
He joins Michael Babatunde who joined the club from SC Qatar two months ago.
“Okechukwu has signed a lucrative deal with Wydad Casablanca and he will join the team after their CAF Champions League clash with Mamelodi Sundowns this Friday,” his agent, Nureni Makanjuola told CSN.
Wydad Casablanca will host Mamelodi Sundowns in their penultimte group C fixture this Friday, August 17 in Morocco.
Kalu Orji and Anthony Okpotu are other Nigeria internationals playing in the Moroccan top division league.
