Okocha: Bafana Bafana Not Super Eagles Rivals

Ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash between Bafana Bafana and the Super Eagles, Nigeria legend, Austine Jay Jay Okocha, insists the hosts are not his nation’s fiercest rivals on the pitch, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

A place in Cameroon 2019 will be up for grabs when both countries clash in the Group E encounter at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

“No, we do not see South Africa as our rivals, but we know that they are very tough opponents,” Okocha told Soccerladuma.co.za.

“Maybe the Nigerians who are living here (in South Africa) see that as bragging rights, but I do not have to go with what fans make of the game.

“I speak as a football personality, somebody who has been there before, you know. So I know they are not our rivals, but it is always a good match to watch.”

Okocha, who represented the Super Eagles 75 times, is hopeful for an exciting match on Saturday.

“Well, may the better team win! I want to enjoy the game,” he added.

“I want to see a good, very competitive match. Of course, my heart is with Nigeria, but if South Africa deserve it, they should win.”

This will be the 14th meeting between these two nations and Nigeria have dominated this tie with seven wins so far. South Africa have only claimed two wins and four matches have been drawn.
Meeting between Nigeria and South Africa have produced 30 goals, with the Super Eagles accounting for 22 strikes. So there is no rivals on the pitch between the two nations…Nigeria is far superior to South Africa.

The man who officiated the game between Nigeria and South Africa needs to be investigated. I guess they’ve told him Nigeria must not win. Even if there was VAR, he will still cancel Musa’s goal… shame on African referees..
NFF should push for the referee’s punishment.. Algeria didn’t spare Nigeria for fielding an ineligible player despite have no chance to qualifier for the last world cup. A.Pinnick, press for this and write your name in gold. we want the world to know we beat south Africa in Jborg and not a draw match.
