Former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha believes the career of Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi will not stagnate should manager Arsene Wenger depart in the summer, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.
Okocha is the uncle of the SupervEagles forwardbwho has not played for the Gunners since the 2-2 draw against Manchester City on April 2.
"It's not easy to break into an Arsenal team," Okocha said on cable television show Omnisports on Thursday.
"A young player won't cope with a whole season. It's understandable he's not playing recently. Overall he has done well.
"No player is happy when he's not playing but he's still young.
"He's not playing for Wenger. He's playing for Arsenal even though Wenger gave him the opportunity. If Wenger goes, he will fight on."
On the debate of Wenger who has been at the club for 20 years staying or leaving, the former Bolton Wanderers star said:
"I don't think Wenger should go. They've been up there for 20 years and you would expect that they will have one or two bad seasons.
"He's one of the best coaches in the world and deserves a lot of respect for what he has done."
