Okon: Falcon Will Be Stronger In 2015

–Says African women’s champions remain focused

Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon has told Complete Sports that the coming year will be better for the senior national women’s team as he sets his eyes on featuring at least in the semi final stage of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Okon who led the Nigerian women to win the 2014 African Women’s Championship in Namibia believes that the team will work harder in the New Year to go the extra miles in making the continent proud in Canada.

Speaking to Complete Sports, Okon said he will not rule out the possibility of the team playing in semi final stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada as he promised that the players will work extra hard to ensure they live up to expectation in the New Year.

“We really thank God for what he did for us as a team in the outgoing year but I believe the New Year can be better , meaning we really need to work extra hard to make the dream a reality. We are focused and we are going to do our best as well to make the year an exciting one for Nigerians,” Okon says.

The Super Falcons will play Australia, United States of America and Sweden but Okon believes none of the teams can stop his players if they really give their best in each of the games.

“They are good teams, we will do our best against them because playing in at least the semi final will be our target and we are not going to underrate any of them.
