Okon: Super Falcons Are Ready for Any W/Cup Foes

Confident Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon has said his team are prepared to face any team in the first round of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

The draw for the tournament will be staged in Ottawa today (Saturday).

“We have qualified for the World Cup and we are here for the draw. It doesn’t matter who we are drawn against, what matters is that we are prepared to face any team,” Okon said to the media.

“Don’t forget we are African champions and we hope to show the whole world the stuff we are made of as champions. We hope for a favourable draw, but we are not afraid to meet any team.”

The Falcons delegation made up of the coach, Okon, team administrator Ruth David and media officer Gracious Akujobi has arrived Ottawa for the draw.

They left Abuja on Thursday via British Airways aircraft, touched down in London Heathrow after a six-hour flight. They later transited for two hours at Heathrow before connecting an Air Canada flight for Toronto that lasted eight hours. From Toronto they connected to Ottawa and arrived at exactly 11:25pm local time with a freezing temperature of -16 degrees.
