Super Falcons Chief Coach Edwin Okon has said that his team has the right mentality to reach the semi final of the FIFA Women World Cup slated for Canada in June.
Coach Okon said at the Super Falcons thanksgiving at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church that the team may not be a star studded side but they have developed a winning mentality that will see them do well in Canada.
“Our target in Canada will be to surpass the quarter final record of the Super Falcons at previous World Cups. We have a very young but combative girls who would give their best in every game to get results
“What they lacked in experience, they make up with their skills, strength and strong mentality. With this spirit and with adequate and appropriate preparation, I can beat my chest that we can get to the semi finals in Canada” he stated.
Coach Okon who commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for arranging two friendly international matches as tune up games before the World Cup said he would have wished for more games if not for the Olympic and All Africa Games qualifiers preceeding the World Cup.
He said he would make up for the shortage of quality tune up games by engaging in test games with local male and female sides.
