By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Former Nigeria international wing back, Sylvanus ‘quicksilver’ Okpala is no longer among the coaches under the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation to assist Stephen Keshi, Complete Sports can report.
Okpala was touted as one of the two coaches pencilled down by the NFF as Keshi’s assistants but the ex-international defender’s decision to drag the football house to court has ended his chance of returning to the team’s technical crew.
Meanwhile the NFF have announced that Keshi’s assistants will be unveiled next week.
Vice president of the federation, Seyi Akinwunmi who revealed this in a chat called for patience as the federation will soon announce the names of those who would assist Stephen Keshi in the national team.
“We are taking our time in announcing assistant coaches because we want the best for the national team and we want to tidy up all the necessary papers before making it public. Keshi cannot do the job alone so he must get those who will work with him.
“Before the team opens camp for the African Cup of Nations game against Chad, Nigerians will get to know the other members of the Eagles coaching crew,’ the Lagos Football Association boss stated.
He denied knowledge of the NFF receiving any application for the job of assistant coaches and neither did the NFF advertised for such jobs.
