Okpotu: Final Against Morocco Won’t Be Home Eagles’ Toughest CHAN Game

By Johnny Edward: Home Eagles striker Anthony Okpotu is confident Nigeria will win Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) final against hosts Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Okpotu who has scored twice so far in five starts for the Home Eagles dispelled the notion that the final will be the toughest for the Nigerian team who have recorded four wins and a draw en route the finals.

“We have come this far and we will remain positive about winning,” the Lobi Stars striker told journalists in Casablanca on Saturday.

“It’s going to be easy,” Okpotu replied when asked if the game against Morocco will be his toughest.

“The Moroccan defenders haven’t played against me yet.”

Okpotu admitted that the Home Eagles must be clinical to to outscore the hosts.

“It’s a game that we must be cautious in and take our chances to win.”

Okpotu, you are not a complete striker. You are just too slow and wasteful in front of goals…. Lets see what U will do sha

This guy can fit boast, and he no sabi anitin. Chaii

  • 5 matches, 2 goals and you the main striker? This is poor, 40/100 or 40%. Our problem is the attackers. They are not clicking. They arevnot burying games. Remember that everything is going to go for Morocco. They are the host nation. CAF may want them to win. I sympathies with them. At least let them reap the fruitage of their spending much to organise a very nice tournament. Only that this is Nigeria with 180 million people. The Moroccans have even started the ‘use everything at our disposal to win game” process. I heard the game will kickoff at 8:30 pm when cold is cold. What is wrong with playing the third place match today, and play the finals early. The third place winner can wait till tomorrow to collect their medals. So Anthony Okpotu, do your talking on the field. You have not been doing your talking on the field. Tomorrow is day to show us that you have been reserving and conserving your energy for the finals. Morocco 1-2 Nigeria. Don’t disappoint us and I wish you all the best.

  • Okpotu, know the tradition of Nigerian players. The players should not boast, their coaches should not boast. Do your boasting on the fields and leave boasting to the fans. Get kicking, boy.

    Nigeria 1 Morocco 0

Okpotu, the Nigerian main striker who had scored only 2 goals in 5 matches boasting! Moroccan main striker had scored 8 goals in 5 matches so, who is deceiving who? The outcome of all Home Eagles`5 matches so far showed they are overwhelmingly wasteful in front of goals compared to all possible chances thay had in all the matches.Regardless, Nigerians at home and in diaspora are praying for victory on Sunday.

Hahaha…. You guys are very funny lol. This Okptu should keep mute. We don’t need this bla bla for now. You guys should go out there and do the talks on the field of play. We don’t want to hear story in today’s match ooooooo. I wish you guys the best of luck. What will want you guys to do is simple. Go out there and beat Morocco. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • I wonder how u became the highest goal scorer in the npfl , no single shot at goal , 2 goals in 5 matches …I pray we win morroco

  • So Sudan won the 3 place match yesterday and CSN didn’t report it? On penalties Libya 2-4 Sudan after playing 1-1 aft and 0-0 aet. I need to look at the time Morocco vs Nigeria will be played.

I’ll be disappointed if okpotu starts today’s match after plethora of lackluster display..it’ll obviously show reasons why European coaches are different from ours. It’s only a man that keeps doing the same thing expecting a different result. Morocco scores an average of 2goals per match. I pray God to help them with luck. Fly eagles!!!!!

Today’s match is very dicey. Eagles are up against so many factors notably- unfavourable weather, partisan home crowd, home advantage, fatigue after long journey from Marrakech, contending with a striker who has scored 8 goals in 5 matches, contending with also the fact that our point men are not that clinical etc makes the match a herculian task. Despite these I am still optimistic that Eagles might scale through judging from the fact that we have mastered the game of North Africans. Best of luck!
