Former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana believes the desire of the Nigeria Football Federation to hire a foreign coach for the Nigerian senior national team may work perfectly as expected if it is the right choice, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Olofinjana, a former Stoke City star, spoke to Completesportsnigeria.com on the issue of a foreign or local coach for the Eagles with Salisu Yusuf appointed on interim basis.
"The NFF hiring a foreign coach depends on what the blueprint is and what we want to achieve going forward," Olofinjana said.
"If you ask me, we have good local coaches in Nigeria and there are equally good foreign coaches in Europe.
"Really? I never knew the NFF were said to be keen on Harry Redknapp. He is a good manager but I'm not in a position to say whether he is the right choice or not. The NFF should go for the man with the development of Nigerian football in mind."
Interim coach Salisu Yusuf will oversee Nigeria's friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg on May 27 and June 1, 2016 respectively.
