Nigeria U-23s coach Samson Siasia says he will scout on the Congo U-23 side to know the strength and weakness of the side ahead of their meeting in the 2015 CAF U-23 Championship qualifier.
The Congolese, handled by experienced French coach Claude Le Roy, edged out Ghana 5-4 on penalties in their play-off game on Sunday at the Complex Sportif de Point-Noire to book a date with Nigeria.
The former Nigeria international hinted completesportsnigeria.com that he is aware of the threat posed by their opponent, stressing that it is important to learn more about them to boost his side’s chances of making it to the championship in Senegal.
”We have to spy on them [Congo] to be sure of the players to look out for when we come up against them,” Siasia told completesportsnigeria.com.
”Not only that, it’s important to know the strength and weakness of your opponent, so we will also be watching for that too.
”Knowing all these facts will help our own preparation and I hope we get things right at the end of the day.”
The Caf Under-23 Championship which will be hosted by Senegal will have the top three teams from the eight-nation competition secure places at the 2016 Rio Olympics Games football tournament.
