By David Meshioye: Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo could be joining Ahmed Musa and Aaron Samuel in the Russia Premier League in the summer, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Kasimpasa FC of Turkey defender has continued to express his readiness to move up the ranks in his career and most importantly feature in the UEFA Champions League. With different suitors coming from Russia and beyond, the former Middlesbrough star said he will be weighing his options come next summer.
“I am enjoying my game at Kasimpasa at the moment with more playing time, which to me is the most important thing for every footballer but I’m not afraid of any fresh challenge,” Omeruo told CSN.
“It is the dream of every player to move on in their football career. Any good deal will be welcomed.”
CSN learnt that Omeruo was on the verge of moving to Russia in the January transfer window with Spartak Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg leading the chase, but the deal hit a brick wall late February owing to Russia Premier League rules.
“Omeruo should have moved to Russian Premier League in January transfer window but for Russia player quota system. We were in close contact with Spartak Moscow and Zenit while other top clubs were also interested in Kenneth but they have already exceeded the number of foreign players in the club,” agent Femi Adebayo told CSN.
“The deal will be re-opened in the summer God willing. We will surely return in summer.”
Omeruo signed a new deal with Chelsea last August but was loaned to Turkish outfit Kasmpasa.
