Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has backed the Golden Eaglets to beat Mali in Sunday’s final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile reports completesportsnigeria.com.
The Eaglets who are seeking a record fifth crown will confront their fellow West Africans at the Vina del Mar on Sunday evening, 11pm Nigerian time.
It will be the first time in 22 years two teams from the same confederation will compete in the final following Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Ghana at the 1993 edition in Japan.
And Onazi, a member of the Eaglets side that picked silver medal on home soil in 2009, is hopeful Emmanuel Amuneke’s lads can retain the trophy won by their predecessors two years ago in the United Arab Emirates.
“I was once there, so I wish you guys the best so that you can go one ahead of us. #Golden Eaglets. # Champions in waiting ,” the Lazio midfielder wrote on his Twitter handle.
