Onazi Doubtful As Eagles Camp Opens Today

Super Eagles and Lazio of Italy midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, may play no part in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Congo slated for the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday even as Super Eagles camp opens today ahead of the match.

Onazi was not involved in Lazio’s Serie A game at the weekend with the club warning the Super Eagles World Cup player should be left out of the game with Congo on Saturday.

The former Flying Eagles star picked an injury during the World Cup Round of 16 encounter between Nigeria and France.

Super Eagles players are expected to report to their Transcorp Hotel Camp, Calabar today ahead of preparation for the 2015 AFCON Group A qualifier against the Leopards of Congo Brazzaville.

Keshi has drawn a list of 23 players to prosecute the the games against Congo and South Africa.

Super Eagles players whose clubs were involved in league games on Saturday are expected in camp today, while those whose clubs had their league games on Sunday are expected in camp on Tuesday.

The likes of John Obi Mikel whose club Chelsea defeated Everton 6-3 at Goodison Park on Saturday, as well as goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Kenneth Omeruo are among those expected to be part of the early birds to camp.

The coaching crew headed by Stephen Keshi, Valere Houndinou, Ike Shorunmu and Daniel Amokachi as well as other back-room staff are expected to hit camp today in company withthe home-based players listed for the two games.
