Super Falcons forward, Francisca Ordega was voted woman- of – the match following her impressive display in the side’s 4-0 win against the Shepolopolo of Zambia in their Group B encounter at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ordega, 25, provided the assist for the team’s opening goal scored by Desire Oparanozie and netted the second goal.

The forward who is on loan at Spanish Primera Division club, Atlético Madrid from Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) produced a near flawless performance in the game.

Ordega is the first Super Falcons player to pick the award in the competition at the 2018 Africa Women’s Nations Cup.

The former Rivers Angels star has been capped 27 times by Nigeria and scored seven times.

She was part of the Super Falcons team that won the AWCON title in 2010 and 2014.

Good player, wish you guys all the best .But how can Francesca Ordega be capped just 27 times with Super Falcons?. .no is not possible , this girl have been with super falcons since God knows when and I believe she must be going around 60 caps by now ?

    • It is correct. They play maybe 5 or 8 matches a year. Don’t forget that she also played under 20 at the same time and under 17 and those don’t count towards senior caps.

So although she has been around for about 8 years, some of that time was playing for under 17 and under 20

Hahahaha…60 caps…?? How many matches does the falcons get to play in a year…? between 2016 and yesterday, they played just 5 matches. That’s 5 in 2 years. I cant remember the SF playing an international friendly since 2010….anyone who can should pls remind me (apart from that hurriedly arranged friendly agaist france in April)
Nigeria played 5 matches in at the 2010 AWCON, 5 in 2012, 2014 and 2016….that’s 20 matches. Played 3 matches at the 2011 and 2015 world cups each….making 6 matches. 20+ 6 = 26 matches. We also probably played 1 qualifier for each of these AWCON tournaments since we are always drawn bye till the last stage that’s 2 X 3 = 6 qualifiers.
26 + 6 = 32 matches played by the SF in 8 years. So assuming Ordega played ALL super falcons’ matches in those 8 years, which is probably not so…thats just 32 caps. So 27 is very very realistic

Steve, I think what you are doing is considering Ordega’s caps to include her career in under-aged football. She played u-21 football.
You are right, she has been around for a long time but some of that time was as a junior-international.
It is a mistake that can be easily made hence a mature way of bringing this to your attention should have been explored in any feedback to your entry.
