Nigerian players Nurudeen Orelesi and James Adeniyi have emerged champions in the Albanian Superliga with Skenderbeu for a sixth consecutive time after they defeated Flamurtari Vlorë 2-0 on the final day of the league season on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
A goal in each half from Liridon Latifi and Sebino Plaku sealed win for Mirel Josa’s side.
Orelesi who made a return to the club after a two-year spell with Ukrainian Premier League club, Metalurh Zaporizhya, has now won four Albanian Superliga titles compared to Adeniyi who has one to his name after joining from Laçi in January.
Orelesi wrote on his Instagram wall after the triumph: “The game is over. Stand up for the champions.”
Skenderbeu won the league title with a five-point lead over sole rivals Partizani Tirana.
Skenderbeu became the first Albanian club to qualify for the Champions League play-offs after beating Moldova’s Milsami 4-0 on aggregate in the competition’s third qualifying round, automatically securing a place in the less prestigious Europa League group stage last year.
