Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala will jet off the shores of the country on Sunday for Switzerland for the FIFA Balon d’Or, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Oshoala on Thursday scooped double African awards after being decorated as the continent’s Woman Footballer of the Year, as well as the CAF Young Player of the Year during the 2014 Awards held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, Nigeria.
FIFA extended invitation to the Nigerian young girl as as a guest and observer during its Balon d’Or ceremony in Switzerland, next week after her eye-catching performance at the 2014 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Canada.
Oshoala did not only produce spectacular performances at the showpiece, she helped the Nigeria U-20s reach the final, and was crowned the Golden Boot and Golden Ball award winner.
“I’ll travel out for the Balon d’Or on Sunday,” a delighted Oshoala informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I’ve got all my travel documents and by the grace of God, I will travel on Sunday, that’s when the flight was booked.”
The Super Falcons striker who won the 2014 AWC Most Valuable Player (MVP) award said witnessing the Balon d’Or award ceremony will be an indelible point in her career.
