Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen’s German club Wolfsburg have retained their Bundesliga status after beating second division club Holstein Kiel 1-0 away in the second leg of the promotion play-offs on Monday.
Osimhen was not included in Wolfsburg’s squad for the reverse fixture. Wolfsburg won 4-1 on aggregate over two legs after winning the first leg 3-1.
Robin Knoche scored Wolfsburg’s goal with 15 minutes remaining in the game.
Wolfsburg ended 16th on 33 points during the regular season in the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, Afeez Aremu was in action for IK Start who pipped visiting Bodo Glimt 1-0 in the Norwegian top flight to end their poor run of results on Monday.
Going into the game against Bodo Glimt, Start had gone nine straight league games without a win (eight defeats, one draw).
IK Start’s only goal was scored by Espen Boerufsen in the seven minutes.
The win took Start off the bottom of the table from 16th to 15th on seven points.
Aremu has now featured in 11 league games for Start, scoring one goal.
