By Bamidele Boluwaji:

Former Nigerian senior national basketball team captain, Olumide Oyedeji has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the teams that featured in the just concluded Zenith Women's Basketball League, saying the tournament is growing bigger, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Oyedeji, a former NBA player who was at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium on Saturday to watch the final of the 2017 edition between First Bank and First Deepwater, said the financial institution has done a lot to contribute to the growth of women basketball in Nigeria.

"Personally, I am very impressed with what  I have seen in this year's Zenith Women's Basketball League, and  must be honest to tell you that the league is growing bigger every year,"  the former Ebun Comet player ‎ told Completesportsnigeria.com

"With what we have seen now, I am sure that the future is bright for our players’ and I hope the clubs and coaches should have learned from the league and make necessary corrections where they need to do."

Oyedeji however told Completesportsnigeria.com  that there was need for the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF to also reach out to some multinationals in the area of helping these clubs through sponsorship, so that they can have some financial power to embark on training camps which will also help them to perform better.

"If these multinationals we have in this country can come to the aid of the clubs through sponsorships, i am sure it will help them to prepare well for the next edition,"Oyedeji concludes .

It would be recalled that First Bank defeated First Deepwater 84-53 points in the Zenith Women’s Basketball League final played on Saturday at the indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
