Hoops And Read Basketball Club of Lagos continued their impressive run in the NBBF/Kwesesport Premier Basketball League on Thursday as they defeated Rivers Hoopers 71-69 in their last game of the regular season played at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The team owned by former D'Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji, put up a spirited effort to dominate visiting Rivers Hoopers who also gave a good account of themselves in the Atlantic Conference.
In the second game played on Thursday, Kwara Falcons defeated Nigerian Customs 89-64 to also brighten their chances of competing for the title.
Meanwhile, Conference play-off is expected to commence on August 14 and end on August 19 in the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences.
Top two finishers in both the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences will form the Final Four that will battle for the title and continental tickets in the men's category.
Rivers Hopers coach Ogoh Odaudu however believes that losing to Hoops and Read team will make his players to work harder as they approach the conference final.
“It was a good game despite the fact that we lost but I can tell you that we have a lot of lessons to learn from that and I have told the players. This will make us to work harder,” Odaudu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
