Palace Make Third Straight Porto Check

Crystal Palace made a third check on Porto in the space of 10 days on Sunday with former target Moussa Marega back on their radar.

Palace were among the clubs on the official scout list at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon where Benfica beat Porto 1-0 in the top-of-the-table clash.

Swiss international striker Haris Seferovic scored the only goal of the game but, given Palace’s recent missions to watch Porto matches, Marega would appear to be back near the top of their wanted list ahead of the January transfer window.

Back in 2017, the Sun reported that Porto rejected offers of just £9million from Palace and Brighton for the striker on deadline day.

Palace also scouted Porto’s 1-0 home wins over Galatasaray on Wednesday and against Tondela in the Portuguese league last Friday night.

Marega, who scored the winner against the Turkish club, started in all three and is firmly established as the club’s first choice number nine.

Strong and pacy, he would seem an ideal target for the January window with Eagles boss Roy Hodgson looking to lighten the goalscoring burden on Wilfried Zaha.

Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera could also be an option with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, but Arsenal and Real Madrid are also said to sniffing around.
