Manuel Pellegrini has stated that Manchester City's 3-0 win against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday was a sweet revenge following their ouster in the hands of the Blues in the FA Cup.
Chelsea thrashed a young Manchester City side 5-1 in the early round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.
City were able to avenge the loss thanks to a hat-trick from Sergio Aguero in a 3-0 league win in Saturday's late game.
Commenting on the emphatic win, Pellegrini described it as an important one in their quest to finish high in the league table.
"I'm very satisfied. The team played very well in attack and defence," he said.
"We knew before the game it would be difficult here but we also wanted revenge for the FA Cup game that we had to play a young team, and they beat us.
"It was a complete game and a very important three points in the Premier League because we want to finish as near to the top of the table as we can."
Speaking on the hat-trick by Aguero, Pellegrini stated that there is no better striker in the Premier League.
"Sergio makes the difference when he's playing every game, every week. He is a very important player," he declared.
"I am sure he is the best striker in this league."
And Pellegrini, whose City side face Newcastle and Stoke before welcoming Real Madrid to the Etihad, has challenged his players to continue building momentum before the big clash against the Spanish giants.
He said: "The best way to arrive at a semi-final is when you are winning games, and to not only win but to win the way we did here because it was a complete performance with and without the ball.
"The most important thing is to keep focusing on the league as we need to play for six more Premier League points before the semi-final."
