Peru boss Ricardo Gareca has declared that the country will see out their World Cup campaign on a high note following their elimination from the competition at the hands of France.
The South Americans fell to 1-0 defeat against France with Kylian Mbappe’s first half strike proving to be the difference between both teams.
Thursday’s result, combined with the loss to Denmark on June 16, means that Peru are yet to pick up a point and will be unable to progress to the last 16.
“We thank the Peruvian fans so much for the great support in Russia,” Gareca told reporters at full time.
“We left everything on the field against two very tough opponents. But this does not end here, we are going to close the World Cup with the same attitude.”
Peru’s final World Cup game will be against Australia in Sochi on June 26.
