Pinnick Exonerates Keshi, Blames Players For AFCON Failure

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has absolved out-of-contract Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi of any blames for Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, rather blaming the players for the misfortune.

The 44-year old NFF President admits that Keshi has his inadequacies, but thinks the attitude of the players were not right and they probably played against the coach’s instructions.

“Anything that wants to happen happens and people should not start attributing it to him (the coach). He’s a human being and he might have his inadequacies just like everyone of us, but personally I do not think so.

“Look at the attitude of the players. A coach can tell the players ‘look at the tactics we want’ and they go there and do their thing.

“When we were in Congo, I called one of the players and sat him down and said ‘you were raging at the referee, what if he had given you a red card? We would have been depleted by one, do you know what would have happened to us?’ The attitude of the players is what we should emphasize on,” Pinnick told Lagos-based Cool FM.

This should come as some respite for Stephen Keshi, who is yet to officially vacate the Super Eagles coaching position, and is known to have a dour relationship with Pinnick.

  • A joke of a comment, tell me who invited those players ? Pinnick please make up your mind for me keshi has far outlived his sell by date.

Keshi has already imposed himself on Pinnick who sees himself as weak to deal with the inefficient Keshi. The greatest turn around or success for Nigerian football would only come if Pinnick has the boldness to sack Keshi.Ufortunately he cannot do that because Keshi has proved how influential he is as far as Nigerian football is concerned.Oh little Pinnick,Keshi has placed you in a tight corner that you can no longer do him anything.Majority of Nigerians, including myself want Keshi out but that can’t happened because you are a man who has no words of his own

Mr. Pinnick, you are loved by football loving Nigerians, we believe you are not only the best person for that job, but would also be one of the best things to ever happen to our football. Now listen sir, if you must not go against the President of the country for his wrong calculations in trusting Keshi, please do not eat your own words on the incompetence of Keshi. We (the football fans) know it is the common undeniable lifestyle of politicians. The worst you can do is be quite about it and let things play out the way it would.

Where you voted in to work for the President or Nigerians? Let me ask you squarely, how come Aluko who plays regularly for Hull City in England, scored the only two goals for us had to be on the bench in the first place, until almost 20 minutes to the end of the game? How come the same guy Aaron Samuel (invited by Keshi against all odds) who scored twice in three matches, had to kept on the bench for almost 20 minutes before being introduce into the game? Did we not desperately need a win to qualify? Was the goals not seriously needed?

Is it the same EPL we watch every saturday that you watch? Aluko play for regularly Hull City? That is the lie of the century.

Keshi was a defender during his playing days, what has been the status of our defence in the Super Eagles team with a 3 -2 away win by congo. I -0 home lose to Sudan, first 2 goals scored by South Africa?

Did the players play against his instructions in all the over 35 games Keshi played since he came in?
How many was won and lost?
