Pinnick Opens Up On Super Eagles World Cup Bonuses, Friendlies, Goalkeeper Plans

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has allayed fears that the federation may be facing challenges preparing the Super Eagles for the summer FIFA World Cup in Russia, saying there is no cause for alarm, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Speaking with the media in Abuja, on Wednesday, Pinnick said he is fully in charge of Super Eagles’ World Cup preparation and he will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Nigeria have a successful campaign in Russia

“We are not facing any challenge, and I would like to thank the government of Nigeria for creating the enabling environment for us to strive,” Pinnick said.

“The government has given us all the support and more importantly create that stability we always sought in football. The government has really done well by giving us financial support to reach our goal. I thank the Minister, who has been a major supporter of our programme. Get free genting casino promo code here

“Talking about the World Cup, I don’t we have any issue because I speak to the technical officials, especially the coaches everyday, and I am also in touch with the technical committee. I am totally in charge of the World Cup and I don’t delegate functions that are crucial because the desire of every Nigerian is for Super Eagles to do well at the World Cup.

“So, I don’t think there is any challenge. We had a meeting with the team in November and we signed agreement with them that 30 percent of the FIFA money which is $2.8million will be paid to them. I am a very transparent person and every detail on bonus for each match and up to the final as well as share of income from FIFA money was agreed on.

“I am not one of the presidents of the federation that don’t talk about money and you find every detail of it. The $2.8million we agreed with the players is almost 100 percent already for them to collect whenever they come. We met a couple of State governments and even made presentation to FIFA in raising the money and I can assure that the money is 100% certain for them to collect.”

Pinnick also revealed that the NFF will shoulder the responsibility of flying the Congolese national team to and from Nigeria for the next month’s friendly match against the Super Eagles in Uyo.
“We are making an arrangement to fly in the Congolese national team because that is our responsibility. We are not going to give them any money. We would bring them here, stay for two days and take them back to their country after the match,” he explained.

“They are like 10 steps ahead of us in FIFA Ranking and we just want to humble them here and before going to England. The tickets for Nigeria/England match is almost sold out and it will a good game. The match would play at the Wembley on June 2, and from then we would go to play Czech Republic in Austria on June 6, before moving to Russia for World Cup.”

On the goalkeeping situation of the Super Eagles, Pinnick said plans are underway to dispatch goalkeeper trainers to all the national team keepers including Dele Alampasu, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi and the Spain-based goalkeeper Francis Uzoho for one-on-one training ahead of the World Cup.

Pinnick is a civilized, passionate and modern-style NFF President. Nobody’s perfect, but I wish his efforts are rewarded because the team has raised the expectations of Nigerians by the way and manner they qualified for the World Cup. What is now important is to ensure that there are no broken promises to the players, and that the NFF Technical Committee does not try to undermine Gernot Rohr’s choice of players to go to Russia.

There was a funny imaginary story a funny friend told me. There was an area in Warri that had no light for 2 years until the mother of a House of Rep nember came to stay. Immediately she came things start to change for the area. After about a mouth light was restored and for 2 weeks there was not even a blink of the light. An old man couldn’t bear it again. He put on his best cloth and match down to the then NEPA and ask to see the Oga. When he saw him he said he want to lay a complaint. The complain was that he should send his men to gi check the transformer in his area because it is malfunctioning. How? He says For the past 2 weeks or so, there is always light but the normal thing is that Never Expect Light At All. So something is wrong with the transformer. They should come before something bad happens. They then explain it to him why there is now light always in his area. Nothing is wrong with the transformer. It is something similar happening in NFF. So I am asking Is Amaju Pinnick a Nigerian? Yes na. We all know him as a pure Warri bobo. Pure Itsekiri. I think they should check that his DNA again. Maybe his great-great-great-into 10 great-grandmother is from England. This may even explain why he is a stunt Arsenal FC of London fan. I heard he is even the Chairman of Arsenal fans club Nigeria. The way he is running the NFF is something we have never experienced before and I can boast that I have seen many NFA-NFF Presidents before. Let someone prove me wrong that there has being an NFA-NFF President that has beaten Amaju Pinnick and his able board members. Just imagine it, $2.8 million already ready to be collected. Calculate that amount into our lovely Naira. Just imagine the quality friendly matches already booked and the transportation to and fro of the Congolese national team to Uyo. This is too much for us to imagine. My friend is telling me over and over what is going on in NFF. I no know o. Well done is what Nigerians are telling you and board so far.

If what I’m seeing from the current NFF ably marshalled by Amaju Pinnick is happening from the dream world, nobody should dare wake me up o!

  • Can this same success be translated at club levels please.

  • This people have started again! I hope lack of bonus payments wont cause this Super Eagles to start playing like Super Chikens at the world cup. Nawao! Abeg Oga Pinnick try and do the needed.

  • I’m just smiling self-consciously. The Americans say: you ain’t seen nothing yet. This lion is roaring to sound his presence in the Nigerian football landscape. I’m happy many people have been converted, including my friend @Djeniko, with scales falling off their eyes. Gone are the days of the SuperEagles being mere participants in FIFA events. This year, there will be lightening and thunderstorm in broad daylight in Russia. The Eagles will land. The program as conceived is solid, and needs timely execution, especially the goalkeeping imbroglio.

  • Why should NFF foot their transportation? is it part of the requirement ni? That’s the only part I do not understand.

  • Djeniko 7 months ago

@Ekemini Nelson, we now have unstolen money with Pinnick Amaju and he is free to transport our guest since we invited them. The only thing we need from them is to give us a good fight and if possible win us so that we will not go to the WC with the false euphoria that we have arrived. Some of my friends are already tasking the boys to go to Russia and show them that we are the new kids in town and the WC is ours. The time of Brazil and Germany are over. That’s good. I love their optimism. If only horses were wishes, the cripple and blinds will ride with high speed. Yes!! Nigeria is coming home with the WC. As long as it is going to happen in my lifetime with just mere wish and high hope, I will support this group. Any law against supporting such a noble wish? Nooo

  • The era of babariga men in nff has gone we now have a sound and modern man in the helm of affairs, kudos boss
