Pogba: France Won’t Underrate ‘World Class’ Croatia

Star studded Croatia will not be underrated when they face France in the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup this evening (July 15), according to French midfielder, Paul Pogba.

The 25 year old Manchester United star will play in his first ever World Cup final when France take on Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Pogba who is eager to replace his childhood fantasy of scoring in a FIFA World Cup final by winning the title, admits that the French team has learnt from the bitter experience of losing the 2016 European Championship final to Portugal by a lone goal.

“In 2016, we made the mistake of being overconfident,” Pogba told FIFA.com.

“After beating Germany in the semi-finals, we felt we were destined to win. I can promise you we won’t make the same mistake again. I know the Croatian players well and they’re world class. They qualified from an extremely tough group and only one team can lift the Trophy on Sunday. It has to be us.

“I’m really happy, but I don’t want to feel proud yet.

“I want to wait. We haven’t achieved anything yet.

“We have a star on our shirts, but it wasn’t me who won it,” he explained, determined to add one ‘final’ touch to his long-held dreams.

“I know where I’ve come from and what I’ve been through to get to this point. I’ve dreamed about the World Cup since I was a kid. As a boy, I dreamed of scoring in the final but I’ve revised my goals: now I just want to win it!”

Pogba will earn his 60th international cap for France when he takes to the pitch against Croatia.
