Prosinecki: Super Eagles Can’t Beat ‘Fantastic Croatia’ In Russia

Croatia legend, Robert Prosinecki, believes his country’s current team possesses the quality to beat Nigeria and the other teams in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Croats will face the Super Eagles in their first group game at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad on June 16 2018.

The Albiceleste of Argentina and the debutants Iceland are the other teams in the group.

Prosinecki, a former midfielder who scored 10 goals in 49 appearances for Croatia, hinted that they have the quality to not only beat their Group D foes but make a strong impact at the mundial.

“If we have a top class – and we have it unquestionably – then we can not talk about Nigeria and Iceland as rivals that can stop us from making it from the group.” Prosinecki said in an interview with Sportske.jutarnji.hr.

“Respect and respect absolutely, but with the quality we have, we are far ahead of them.

“Croatia has a fantastic team, has a long-standing generation that has shown its ambition and character and that is why we are optimistic of doing well in Russia. In France we were good at Euro, but now we have to be even better.

“We have to go through the group and that will bring us to the knockout phase. There is no opponent in the group that we cannot beat.

“Maybe we are not the best in the world, but we are so strong that we can play with everybody and beat them in a good day.”

While this coach is shouting thunder and lightning out of fear , it would surprise him that Super Eagles are no push overs why? Because they don’t look down at an opponent. They are the worst nightmare. So he better be ready for some whopping .

  • Super eagle will surely defeat Croatia

  • It”s not social media talk. Supper will do the talking on the pitch. We will prevail over you.

  • Is he right? Sadly yes. Croatia has the potentials and I personally believe they will qualify from the group. Nigeria will have to struggle for the second spot with Argentina but I have the feelings that Argentina might crash out of the group stage.

  • Croatia beautiful country . Nigeria not so much.

If this evil Europeans and Americans didn’t destroy naija by stealing from us and enslaving us, you think you will compare Croatia to Nigeria? I don’t think so. We are more beautiful as we are not wicked at heart like this devils in disguise. Rubbish.

Everyone dismissed naija against Argentina in the last friendly, we won 4-2. We go see. Our guys are sharp and the coach is very sound. We talk less. We will talk when world cup starts.

  • @Olusegun B, the one talking is not even the coach. That was my thinking too until I read the article. He is a one time Croatia player. The article says he is a legend. If he is a real one, he would have known that in football, those who are over confident usually leak the dust. He forgot that Croatia qualified via a playoff. Maybe he is looking at the FIFA ranking and thinking that Nigeria is from Africa and Iceland are debutante. I can’t speak for Iceland but I am sure itbis Nigeria and Iceland that will qualify from that group D. Croatia and Argentina will put their tail between their legs and head bowed will be heading home after the first round. Pride goes before a headlong fall and humility pays.

I’m not sure that you are as well versed in soccer as is Robert Prosinecki. He is a former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder. I’m gonna stick with his opinions over yours…especially when you choose Iceland over Cro or Arg. Perhaps you should educate yourself prior to making a post.

The good thing, and that will work in Nigeria’s favour, is that many of our opponents have not bothered to find out who the Super Eagles are. They are dismissive of Nigeria simply because we’re a team from Africa, and therefore perpetual underdogs. By May next year when they must have seen our friendlies, and studied some other tapes, they’ll be less arrogant

This guy thinks it’s all about FIFA ranking and having players in Real Madrid and Barcelona. I am very glad some of this team’s are over confident. This dismissive attitude will be their downfall when we meet. As for Argentina, I doubt their going beyond group stage because of the arrogance Messi is similarly already displaying.

  • when moses , iwobi and ighalo start .. they will understand

lvo, it is not about beauty, Croatia is nothing to compare to where l am in New Jersey, USA. and we are not even in Russia. You talk stupid when you talk like that in Public. Get real my friend.

  • We shall see
    D crotians r good

  • The fantastic that struggle to qualified for the main thing. Its not ur fault but the fault of the numbers that qualified from Europe. We are waiting for u at the world cup.

Fans , please let no one worry about this mouth swollen talk , Time will tell and even Mess who might be thinking he is the God of scccer in Argentina, and think we are no body,he will be at beach to play play us , come to look at it in this direction , Argentina will play Iceland first ,and they will try by all miss to take off messi of the pitch with injury and pick rad card , to tell you that messi will be on beach while play Argentina with kneel injury , this will be as result of the last friendly that their coach said he have messi to deal with supper eagle.
For this reason thank god messi will play two strong team before meeting us , him will be sideline with injury before we meet Argentina at the last and will beat them again , SO SHALL IT BE !!!!!!!

  • you talk too much now nigeria they are ready to knockoutstages to beat any team to win the word cup nigerians they didn’t talk too much croatia will end up group of stage

  • Temitope Adeola 10 months ago

    Talk is cheap

  • Ifeanyi 10 months ago

I think the Croatians are scared of the super Eagles they know that we’re not underdog as FIFA said.

  • Omo9ja 10 months ago

I don’t think so. At first, the way I’m seeing things in that group, Nigeria and Iceland will qualify from that group. Second, I’m praying for Nigeria to play against Messi because, for you to be the best, you must play against the best and beat them hands down. Therefore, that is what will known Nigeria for. It is too early to do the talk now. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Much as being looked down by one’s opponent is irritating, let’s keep our cool. We’ve been lambasted and insulted several times during the qualifiers, but emerged without losing a game (in reality). This so-called Croatian legend as well as their national coach will lick their words in June 2018 after their ‘fantastic’ team is shaken up by the SE. As for Argentina, they’ll pay a great prize for arrogantly keeping off Messi during the Nigerian friendly, where at least he would have had the benefit of testing the resilience of the brand new SE. He’ll be shocked and annihilated when he faces total strangers in Russia.

  • okay I am watching, it shouldn’t turn out as that of Cameroon own oooo cos theirs where four, only God knows how your will be
