By Adeboye Amosu: Leicester City manager Claude Puel has told the club’s Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho he must improve his game if he is to force his way into the starting line-up.
The highly rated Iheanacho has played a peripheral role for the Foxes since his £25m switch from Manchester City last summer.
He has made six appearances in the English Premier League for the former champions and has been linked with a loan move to Turkish champions Besiktas.
He started from the bench in Saturday’s 0-0 FA Cup draw at Fleetwood Town despite the absence of Jamie Vardy due to injury with Algeria’s Islam Slimani preferred ahead of him.
“I think Kelechi is a young player and he needs to improve aspects of his play,” the Frenchman told Leicestermercury.co.uk.
“Also it is difficult because he is a player behind Jamie Vardy and it means he doesn’t get many opportunities.
“Shinji Okazaki is also playing well, so it is difficult for him.
“He works hard on the pitch and in the training sessions and he needs to continue.
“I hope he can have some game time in the future.”Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
