Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho could be dropped from Leicester City’s starting line-up for Jamie Vardy in Saturday’s English Premier League clash with newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Iheanacho was in superb form for Leicester City in pre-season scoring four goals in three games prior to the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.
The 21 year old was picked ahead of Vardy to lead Leicester City’s attack in their 2-1 loss to Manchester City lbut it was the England international who came off the bench with 27 minutes to play at Old Trafford to grab a consolatory goal for the Foxes two minutes into injury time.
Claude Puel revealed during his pre-match press conference on Thursday that the 31 year old, Vardy has a “good chance” of starting Saturday’s clash with Wolves.
“We will see other things,” Puel said during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“I think he (Vardy)) is training with us this week – like his team-mates he is available.”
“I think he has a good chance to start.”
Meanwhile, Leicester City will be without Matty James and Shinji Okazaki for the encounter.
The pair missed the Foxes’ Premier League defeat at Old Trafford.
“I think just Matty James isn’t available for the moment – he’s not fit. Okazaki is not match fit also. We will see if he can come back in the under-23s’ next game on Monday.”
“We will see if it’s possible. He needs game-time and to come back step-by-step.”
“All the other players are fit.”
