Puel Tasks Iheanacho To Replicate Pre-Season Form Vs Man United

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has tasked Kelechi Iheanacho to replicate his pre-season goal-scoring form for the Foxes when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in Friday’s English Premier league opener, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Red-hot Iheanacho has been in rich vein of scoring form for Leicester City in pre-season bagging four goals in three games and has been widely tipped to lead the Foxes’ attack in the absence of Jamie Vardy, who only resumed training on Monday.

“He (Iheanacho) is focused,” Puel told Leicester Mercury on Wednesday.

“He (Iheanacho) made a good performance (against Lille), but the most important thing is to present against Manchester United. We know a friendly game is always different. Of course, I am happy about his (Iheanacho) performance and the performance of the other players.

“It has been a difficult pre-season with all the international players coming back step by step and without the good levels and freshness necessary to play 90 minutes.

“We will see against Manchester United in the first game. It is a problem to find the good balance and the strong team to play the whole game.

“We have different questions about some of the players. We will see. It is a little difficult to prepare a game for Manchester United without all the solutions. I will try to pick a team to make a good performance.”

Puel is also pleased with his team’s character to recover from an early setback in the 2-1 victory over Lille.

“I am happy with our condition,” he said.

“It was a tough game against a good opponent, quick, comfortable on the ball and playing with a good intensity.”

“Normally, when we start like this with a bad performance it is difficult to get back into the game. I am happy about our character to do that and to score some very nice goals. And also to keep the result at the end.”

Been part of the pre season could be what Iheanacho needs to blossom.
Meanwhile,Jamie Vardy gets so much attention.Everyone works for him to score. He is the focal point and other attacker live under his shadows. He is what Messi and Ronaldo are to both Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
In the absence of Vardy Iheanacho was able to focus on himself that was why he scored goals in the pre season and that order should continue in the absence of Vardy at the old Trafford.
But in subsequent week Vardy would be back and that’s where the problem starts.Iheanacho would be forced not only to play behind him but for him.
I hope Nacho could still find ways to score and flourish irrespective of which position he finds himself on the pitch.
Goodluck Nacho for the new season.
    God bless Nigeria.

Kelechi is on his way to greatness this season and I’m absolutely certain that the SuperEagles will benefit immensely from it. With Kalu heading to Bodeaux Kelechi will benefit from a line hugging cross whipping winger like Kalu. Kalu’s whipped crosses will offer a different creative outlet to the SuperEagles, and he would benefit the predatory instincts of a forward like Kelechi Iheanacho, who thrives on early deliveries. The immediate future of the SuperEagles is exciting and I’m looking forward to another dominant era.

    • Me I don’t like all this mediocrity. How can you say Kelechi will lead the line when we have Adeleke Akinyemi.
Do you Kelechi is even worthy of cleaning Adeleke’s boots?
Even the father of all Coaches Gernot Rohr the great has bigged up Adeleke without any mention of Kelechi.
Who is Kelechi and apart from some lucky goals that were put on a plate for him, what has he done?
      Let’s stop celebrating mediocrity.
Adeleke and Lokosa are the future of the Super Eagles.

@ashly thats exactly what am saying. when there is no competitor for him, he wouldnt improve. even b4 WC, he knew rohr would take him. the only area improved was the goalkeeping and defence area where some slots where open. to me, no difference between lokosa and overhyped iheanacho

@Barlox U never fail 2 amaze me I wonder how a person that is as knowledgeable as u will even start thinking of comparing a player that plays in d English Premier league and a player that plays in d Nigerian league. if am not mistaken is it not this same lokosa of a guy DAT could not earn a contract in Norway

      • Adeseye Adetayo 5 days ago

Reports suggests that despite Lokosa been good on the ball, he was not professional and would report late during trial.

But again, how do you measure good player? Professionalism is sure often involved.
