Pyagbara Joins Tunisian Club AS Gabes On Two-Year Contract From Akwa United

By Adeboye Amosu:

Nigeria forward, Christian Pyagbara, has linked up with Tunisian club, Avenir Sportif de Gabes on a two-year contract, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Pyagbara, 22, last featured for Akwa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

His departure will leave a big vacuum at Akwa United who are fighting hard to win the NPFL title for the first time after winning the Aiteo Federation Cup last season.

The striker was part of the home-based Super Eagles side that finished third at the African Nations Championship in South Africa in 2014.

He has also represented Nigeria at the U-20 level.

Avenir Sportif de Gabe’s will be Pygbara’s first club outside Nigeria.

The modest side finished in 10th position in the Tunisian Premier League last season.

  • I feel bad whenever I read about Nigerian players signing for worthless clubs; I am a full time resident here in Tunisia, that club this young man has signed for is one of the worthless clubs here. The club is financially incapable and most importantly with limited infrastructures to develop players further.

Our players must be patient and work with worthy agents to get clubs that will not only allow them make money, but develop them further.

Its so disheartening… very sad indeed! Our players have become very lazy. Gone are the days when European clubs come to Nigeria to sign players.
