Nigerian table tennis star Aruna Quadri and his doubles partner Egypt's Omar Assar have been seeded number six at this year's third edition of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Challenge Nigeria Open billed for 9 August to 13 August in Lagos.
The seedings were confirmed by ITTF-Africa in a press release on Tuesday.
Quadri is Nigeria's only player in the men's doubles seedings.
In other men's doubles seedings, India’s duo of Gnanasekaran Sathiyan and Shetty Sanil are number one while France’s Antoine Hachard and Gregoire Jean are number two in the list.
Also India’s Sarthak Gandhi and Italy’s Carlo Rossi are number three while men’s single defending champion, Finland’s Benedek Olah, and Hungary’s Marton Szita are number four while Portugal’s Pedro Jose Francisco and Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh are fifth seed.
In the women's category, veteran Nigeria table tennis star Funke Oshonaike and her doubles partner, Jieni Shao from Portugal, are seeded number three and double defending champion, Russia’s Irina Ermakova and Olga Kulikova, are seeded number four.
Also in the women's doubles seedings, Nigeria's Cecilia Akpan and Janet Effiom are both seeded number five.
Meanwhile, Azeez Solanke and Esther Oribamise are seeded in the U-21 singles rating in the championship.
Solanke is seeded number two in the men's category behind Italy's Carlo Rossi while Oribamise is number three in the women's category behind Italy’s Giorgia Piccolin and Egypt’s Amira Yousry who are seeded numbers one and two respectively.
The third edition of the 2017 ITTF Challenge Nigeria Open, will be held inside the Indoor Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
