After helping AS Trencin lift the Slovakia Cup for the first time in their history, Rabiu Ibrahim feels he is ready to make the step up to the Super Eagles.
Rabiu has been in fine form for AS Trencin, posting several Man of the Match displays in the league and his goal and all round play in yesterday’s Cup final against Senica was pivotal in the team lifting the cup for the first time since their formation in 1943.
The 24-year-old who has had so many stops in his career, the worst of which was a slump on the pitch while playing for Kilmarnock in a Scottish SPL game against Inverness on the 20th of October 2013, a situation that lead to his release by the team.
However, now at Slovakia table toppers Trencin, the once upon a time talk about heir to Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha, now feels he is finally ready for senior duty with Nigeria.
“I must confess now more than ever that I am ready to make the step up to the Super Eagles though it’s up to the National team handlers but I believe I have what it takes to make the team,” he told SL10.ng.
“From 2007 when I was spotted, I have had so many setbacks but now I’m back to that form that made people tip me as the heir to Okocha, of course I’m Rabiu Ibrahim and Okocha still remains boss.”
