Former junior international, Rabiu Ibrahim, has joined Belgian club KAA Gent from AS Trencin on a three-year contract.
Ibrahim’s move was confirmed on Gent’s official website on Tuesday.
He will team up with compatriot, Moses Simon, who also joined Gent from Trencin in 2015.
“KAA Gent has today completed the transfer of 25-year-old Nigerian central midfielder Ibrahim Rabiu from Slovakian side AS Trencin (the former team of Moses Simon),” a statement on the club’s website reads.
“Rabiu is an elegant player who is left footed and with great technical ability. He was at age 16 scouted by Portuguese Sporting Clube de Portugal and has already played in several European leagues. He has played for Glasgow Celtic.
“He played a total of 61 matches for Trencin in which he scored 11 goals and 9 assists gave. He won the double last season (Slovak champion and cup winner).
He earned four caps under the late Stephen Keshi and also played for all Nigerian junior teams (including U-17, U-20 and U-23).”
“Rabiu signed a contract for three seasons.”
Rabiu was in the Super Eagles squad that faced Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier under Sunday Oliseh.
