By Sab Osuji: Enugu Rangers have restated that their first Premier League title in 32 years is not in danger despite a home draw against Lobi Stars at the weekend which saw the Coal City Flying Antelopes surrender their top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League table to Wikki Tourists, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Paul Ozor Chibuzor, General Manager of six-time champions Rangers, told Completesportsnigeria.com that as disappointing the 1-1 draw with Lobi Stars was, it in no way put their league title aspiration in doubt.
“Sometimes such results are expected. Other teams are not sleeping," Chibuzor said.
"They always tend to raise their games when Rangers are involved.
"Some even go the length of playing the spoiler's role.
"Yes, it could be disappointing dropping points at home at this business end stage of the league but certainly it won't derail our title ambition.
"This is Rangers year and we are determined to make the most of it."
Rangers are joint top of the NPFL table with 47 points with Wikki Tourists of Bauchi. They will go toe-to-toe on Sunday against reigning champions, Enyimba, in the match day 29 Oriental Derby fixture at Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, Port Harcourt.
The Rangers boss is full of expectation going into the game.
"At the moment, the players are in high spirits. We've a complete team devoid of injuries or suspension concerns," he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We're going to Port Harcourt to take the three points from Enyimba. It's like a neutral game between the two teams, so we know we can go there and win.
"It might interest you to know that our governor, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will be at the stadium to watch and cheer Rangers to victory in Port Harcourt."
