Rangers’ preparations for Sunday’s Glo Premier League clash against old rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, suffered a setback on Friday following the decision of the players to shun training in protest of the non-payment of their salaries, reports completesportsnigeria.com.
The players, completesportsnigeria.com scooped, are owed five months salaries by the management of the club.
The Flying Antelopes have struggled to make an impact in the league in recent weeks, with only two wins in their last 11 games in all competitions.
Last weekend, they lost 2-0 to Oriental rivals, Heartland Football Club of Owerri, and this latest action by the players could further affect their chances of improving their position on the log.
The majority of the clubs in the Nigerian top flight have struggled to pay their players this season with the League Management Company having to wade into the issue.
Clubs like Dolphins, Sharks, Taraba United, El-Kanemi Warriors and Warri Wolves are among those who at one time or the other been forced to fulfil their duties to their players.
