Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma, has attributed his team's 2-1 defeat to MFM in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League clash at Agege on Wednesday to poor officiating, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Two first half goals from spot kicks by Stephen Odey secured the win for MFM and also lifted them to the first position in the league table.
The two goals from Odey extended his lead in the NPFL top scorers' chart with 12 goals.
Reacting to the loss, Eguma called on the organisers of the NPFL to look into the issue of officiating in order to get the best from the Nigerian league.
"Only the referee knows why she gave the penalties," Eguma told Completesportsnigeria.com
"But I think we should be allowed to express ourselves anywhere in the country so that we can get the best team in the league," Eguma advised.
Despite the loss, Eguma praised his players for their impressive performance.
"We may have lost but my players didn't play badly. We have to work harder in the subsequent games."
