Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United, have approached the League Management Company, LMC, asking for a postponement of their match-day 29 clash against Ikorodu United, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Pride of Rivers cited the team's involvement in an auto crash near Port Harcourt Thursday evening on their way back home after the Federation Cup quarter-final defeat by Enyimba which left several players injured.
"We've approached the LMC for a shift of our match against Ikorodu United earlier slated for Sunday at Yakubu Gowon Stadium," an official of the club told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We officially informed them about our players who were injured in an accident while we were returning from Ibadan after the Federation Cup match against Enyimba.
"The players and officials are still receiving treatment in hospital for the injuries they suffered in the accident which happened near Port Harcourt on Thursday evening."
Completesportsnigeria.com gathered that goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi will undergo scan test on Friday to ascertain the degree of the injury he sustained in the accident.
Rivers United are third on the Premier League table with 44 points. Wikki Tourists and Rangers who have 47 points each sit in the first and second positions respectively.
