Rohr Hails Super Eagles Preparation In Austria As Team Receive Warm Essentuki Welcome

By James Agberebi:
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says his players had a very good preparation in Austria ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles were camped at the Avita Resort in Bad Tatzmanndsdorf, Austria, in a week-long training programme for this year’s World Cup.
While in Austria, the team faced Czech Republic in a friendly which they lost 1-0.
Reflecting on the Super Eagles time at their Austria camp in a short video published on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Twitter account, Rohr said: “Nine days here was hardwork. Everyday we had two training sessions in vert good conditions, wonderful grass, the country side is nice, is clean with mountains.
“Unfortunately we had heavy rain for the match (against Czech Republic). We wanted to play on the seventh or eighth but we played on the sixth. It was too close for the England match so we had small time for recovery and for travelling and the organization could not be made better.
“But we did the work especially after the game against Czech Republic. Everybody is fit, no injury which is the most important and they did very well. And I think everybody is much better now so it was a good preparation.”
The Super Eagles are already in Russia for the Wolrd Cup after aarriving at their camp base in Essentuki on Monday night to a warm welcome.
The players, in their flashy traditional attire that has captured the world’s attention, were given a spectacular welcome at their base with music and dance.
A big Super Eagles billboard with Russia-based Ahmed Musa boldly displayed is also in clear view in the city.
They will take on Croatia in their first game on Saturday, June 16.

I think it is time for Gernot Rohr to get to the next stage of strategy – be silent. Gernot Rohr should be quiet from now on except it is absolutely necessary to talk as the coach. Like in explaining to the public if a player is injured. He should not be blabbing about our preparedness or anything that will give any hints about our team’s doings. Silent Treatment from now on.

Yes….I agree with you Djeniko. Infact, non of the teams talks about their tactical formations or players welfare as the Nigerian team speaks. We are expected to train in silence and concentrate very hard to arrive at that compact level…. we should adopt silence but listen moreally to any give aways from our likely opponents. .. This idea of newspapers awashed with every details of our camping and tactical formations are very poor reporting from our national dailies that are expected to be very patriotic. I am yet to read about the Agentine or Croatian formations in any newspaper….

What has the coach said that reveals his strategy. We Nigerians we always like to complain a lot. To me he hasn’t exposed his team strategy with what he just said above besides other coaches are also talking about their teams it’s just that we are not following them because we care less about other nationalities. Then there is nothing wrong in the coach praising his employers for a fantastic well done job. So please lay cool.

Ooh mine God, this oyibo too dey take… There are some talking which is reserve for the team media officer but Mr Rhor is a talkertive… Keep quiet and concentrate on your tactical approach to the match on Saturday… I’m so much afraid guys.

  • The coach should be like Donald Trump and promise fire, fury and total annihilation to all super eagles opponents

@Ademola the president, King David acted insane to deceive some enemies and he escaped. So you didn’t feel in you as a football fan that the coach is revealing too much instead of keeping the opponent guessing what is really going on in our camp? Maybe your power of discerning thing is not yet developed. You need to train it as we are not born with discernment. Ok, look at these statements: (1) “nine days here was hard work. Everyday we had 2 training session in very good conditions….” The opponent knows we are all fit instead of keeping them guessing, this we gave them this information just cheaply!!!! They will prepare accordingly.
    (2) “everybody is fit, no injury which is the most important thing and it hey did very well.” The opponent now knows we are all fit and they will prepare accordingly. You see why this coach should adopt the ‘deaf and dumb’ stance?

    • What has fitness or injury update got to do with a team’s technical/tactical information in today’s world? Argentina just replaced Lanzini with Perez due to injury. And this was widely published by the Coach. So what? Rohr has not said anything that he ought not to say.

What has injury update got to do with talking too much? Argentina just replaced Lanzini with Perez due to injury. And it was publicly announced. So what is the big deal in stating that the team is injury free after the days in camp? The coach has not said anything beyond the expected. Gone are the days when teams concealed injuries within a team. In fact, these are updates that will be shared daily by all the teams once the WC kicks off. Make una relax small.

If after all these shakara, guy, packaging and effisi they do not qualify from the group stage, then they should just remain in Russia because we will not take it likely with them.

We have packaged them and sowed so many seed to take care of their allowances with our sweat. They have been enjoying from Uyo to Port Harcourt to London to Austria and now Russia all in chartered jets and 5-star hotels. Infact they are condemned to succeed, otherwise I will jump into the Lagos lagoon.

Please go and warn them if you are close to them.

Lol. Too funny. We should just hope for the best and equally prepare for the worst.

The coach is supposed to be reserved . I have been following the opponents but none has revealed how prepared they are and how many countries they have traveled to. So Rohr should keep shut and think tactically and strategically.
