Rohr: I Rejected Big Offers To Remain Super Eagles Coach

By Adeboye Amosu:

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has revealed that he rejected lucrative offers from some countries after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia to stay put with with the team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The likes of Clemens Westerhof, Bora Mulitonovic and Lars Largerback all left unceremoniously after Super Eagles exit at the previous World Cups.

Rohr, who extended his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation before the World Cup in Russia guided the team through a successful qualifying campaign but came under scrutiny after the team failed to progress beyond the group stage at the mundial after winning just one game.

There were calls for Rohr to be sacked, but the NFF decided to back the German.

“I got good offers from countries who were at the World Cup, but in the end I decided I want to continue working here in Nigeria,” Rohr stated during his interaction with the media in Lagos on Friday.

“I like the team we have here and the NFF has made the environment very conducive for me, so I don’t see any reason why I should leave now.

” I hope this team will be better in future and it is important to continue the good work we started.

Rohr will now hope to help the Super Eagles qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon after the team missed out the last two editions.

The Super Eagles will face Seychelles in their game against on September 7 in Victoria.

“I got good offers from countries who were at the World Cup, but in the end I decided I want to continue working here in Nigeria,” Rohr stated during his interaction with the media in Lagos on Friday.

Please goooooo Mr. Rohr. Your service is not needed Nigeria anymore. Why is only in Nigeria we celebrate failure?

This man knew it if he decided to go somewhere else, he’s going to be exposed and they would fired him right away.

Mr. Pinnick thought by hiring Mr. Rohr and also bn a white man, Nigerians won’t talked but for me, if this man fail this time around, Mr. Pinnick must go. Enough of this.

This man is not capable of taking Eagles to the next level. The earlier we know this the better. Therefore, I am not saying that people should not call me names but you don’t seeing what I’m seeing and the time would reveal itself.

However,”The likes of Clemens Westerhof, Bora Mulitonovic and Lars Largerback all left unceremoniously after Super Eagles exit at the previous World Cups”.

So if that would be the case, what is Mr. Rohr waiting for? 10 minutes left for Nigeria to qualified to the second round against Argentina and this man stood there doing nothing and he is still in charge of the team? What kind of people do we have in charge of our sports? Hmm. This is so annoying. Well, God bless Nigeria!!!

Listen boy  why do you talk in gibberish ?
Why not go to the glasshouse in Abj and sack him. Fool

      • Mykel 3 months ago

You are so petty and unreasonable to call somebody a fool because he voices his opinion. Shame to u. He has the right to say his opinion and if u do t like it, u can counter it with ur points and facts.

Thank you mykel some Nigerians are so disrespectful that they utter foolishness at the least of chance

@Jones. Too much outpour of spontaneous emotions. You didn’t need to call him a fool because he is entitled to his opinion .omoba your clamour for sack even extended to pinnick in my opinion is way overboard and a very pernicious enterprise that can never achieve those genuine desires of yours for the super eagles.

What we forget is that you can’t give what you don’t have.SE during řhe mundial played to the best of their capabilities. Even if we had a guardiola incharge,he wouldn’t have been on the pitch to score the point blank miss by the made in China Nigerian striker. Or was he going to oil the rusty hinges of the ageless skipper?

There was no way iheanancho could be transformed into Gabriel Jesus.Apart from the few promises we have in the young foreign players of Nigerian descent, the team was a blend of old and over hyped mediocres .The days of Henry nwosu, etim esin, kanu and jajay we so crave and in their absence ,patience and team work can only bring the best of a team lacking exceptional talents.enough said

Must you comment on every topic? If you no sabi play football, at least you go sabi watch!
Weldon NFF, at least let’s try a new thing by aiming to attend two world cup with same coach. It’s called continuity. If coach Rohr is as bad as you portrayed him, he wouldn’t have qualified us with ease to Russia 2018.

For those housemates asking NFF to sack Rohr, my question is how many times are we going to sack our coaches before we build a vibrant SE? We’ve had more than 20 managers since Westerhof left 24 years ago. What do we have to show for it? One AFCON, in 24 years! This will go. Another one will come. After AFCON failure, we’ll tell him to go and another one comes. When are going to learn? Whoever was expecting Nigeria to win or do well at the last world cup with the group we found ourselves and the exposure and quality of the team we presented was a dreamer. Rohr virtually built the team from the scratches after the departure of Olishe. That process started in 2016, and two years later, we all want them to take the world by storm. That’s unfair. Under Rohr, we made it to the WC, almost effortlessly, from a group containing Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia. Remember , before then, we couldn’t even make it to 2 AFCON. We beat Iceland and held our own against Messi and his men. There’s freshness in that team now, the needed camaraderie which is strengthening the team spirit. We want to throw all this away just because someone doesn’t like Rohr’s face? I beg to defer. I want this man to continue as the coach. I know in another 2 years , we will be almost untouchable on the continent and the world at large.

In 2 years time, I hope you will be humble enough to admit you were wrong if things go south. And if you are right, I will be the first to comend you.

    COACH ROHR’GALO!
    Hello mr Rohrgalo!
Your new list of invited players are strong only if the experience players who failed On live up to expectations can rise up!
After the WORLD CUP JAMBOREE, IGHALO has been working extra hard scoring goals in CHINA fake league BUT he will be needing 25 games to just 4 goals when playing for NIGERIA. Can you continue to trust him goal scoring responsibility? We have new stars like Akinyimi who scores goal at the europa league with Reckless abandon! Even Eleke has great scoring TALENT but he is only on standby! Strange decision-makers!
ONAZi has been a lively servant prior to the england match and even joel obi. So their inclusion is a welcome boost and great decision. Give them one or two more chance again before abandonment!
Musa MOHAMMED has been loyal to nigeria right from u17 days. So why not help his career by promoting him and inviting him to play? Back that guy up and clubs will show him respect. Not by standby position non sense!
Nigeria should firmly invite Eberechi of QPR team in England because we need number 10s!!!! Chidi nwakali is a gifted player and number 10. Atleast FROM training sessions material to gradually move them to first team.
Akpeyi and Ezenwa inclusion are spot on! Because nigeria don’t have super goal keeper again. They are still ok and manageable!
SALISU yusuf should be replaced with a great young and loyal coach. Nigeria has progressed SALISU yusuf enough so let other ypunger intelligent persons take up THAT chance now!
Coach Rohr galo! Nigerians are watching you closely because after our WORLD CUP JAMBOREE together with ighalo we want to see complete GAME ON SUPER EAGLES.
    Thanks

@omo9ja Ishare in your sentiment, nff sack one good for nothing coach just to replace it with another…..wat is ighalo still doing in that team?he should have retired with moses.if we want to build a team then let some old mediocre like igahlo, echijele, onazi,Joel obi etc give this young lady space abeg
