Rohr: Poor Logistics Affected Super Eagles In Czech Republic Defeat

Rohr: Poor Logistics Affected Super Eagles In Czech Republic Defeat

By Sab Ekeh in Bad Tatzmanndsdorf:

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has claimed that arriving late at the venue of Wednesday’s friendly clash against Czech Republic affected his team’s performance, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The three-time African champions were far from their best in the encounter which they lost 1-0 following a Tomas Kalas effort in the first half.

The players, Completesportsnigeria.com learnt, arrived at the stadium late from their training base.

“I think we need to change the arrangement before the game. We arrived only one hour before the match and we didn’t have enough to do proper warm-up,” he told reporters.

“I hope the conditions will change for everyone in future.”

The Super Eagles are now expected to concentrate on their opening Group D fixture against Croatia on June 16 at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

  • Mood of Fans Thus Far

It has been fascinating gauging the mood of fans few days before Nigeria’s opener against Croatia at the WC.

According to a headline on thenff.com late last week, it read: “Eagles target morale boosting win against Czech Republic.”

Paradoxically it ended up not being a “morale-boosting win” but morale remains high in most quarters.

So, what have fans been saying?

    – Gernot Rohr is too sentimental for sticking to the core of the squad that qualified Nigeria for the world cup despite some clearly being no longer good enough.

    – 2 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw in 6 friendly matches do not necessarily represent a poor run considering that the losses have been narrow.

    – The poor results in the friendly matches have achieved what they set out to achieve – identify flaws in formation and tactics and weed out players to be relegated to the bench.

    – Should the Super Eagles fail to fly in Russia, then Rohr should be flown out of his managerial nest (not everyone shares this views though as some believe he should stay on regardless of the results in Russia).

    – Simmy should start instead of Ighalo; Onazi should consider himself on summer holiday and Joel Obi should not even make any match day squad.

    – Opinions remain sharply divided on the number one status of Uzoho. Some fans have bought anti-heart attack drugs in preparations of his howlers and Eagles collapse! The young man is still held in high esteem in many quarters.

    – Ighalo will never deliver the goods in Nigerian colours (even Gbolahan Salami will score more goals).

    – Nigeria will only play 3 matches in Russia.

    – Nigeria will win the world cup (those who believe this appear to be in the minority). Still a lot of fans expect Nigeria to reach the knock out stages.

The clock is ticking, the pulse is racing, time seems to go so slow, the day is coming and we are nearly there.

So close, yet it seems so far.

I wish I could see each and every one of your faces after the first half of the match against Croatia!

Super Eagles – delighting the people, enriching the nation.

Waow nice analysis. Thanks bro. But I for one, I would want you to see my facr after the first half of our Croatia match because it will be radiant with smiles whether we are crashing or souring. No matter the outcome of our game, I remain forever proud of my Super Eagles. And I hope nobody will sack the coach becos hes been simply outstanding. My biggest interest is for us to win Afcon next year and I believe that with God on our side, and GR as our coach, we shall win the next Afcon.

    • Also I think JOHN OBI should not be playing 10 he’s lost his touch in that 10 role the guy is a pirlo type player he should be playing deeper and IWOBI should be the starting #10 … IWOBI in that 10 role is almost as good as Ozil with his vision and passing and quick feet. JOHN OBI is too slow in that position.

Also because he’s the captain I think Rohr is afraid to bench him. I think Rohr should’ve taken NWANKALI as a partner or replacement for either IWOBI or JOHN OBI…he’s the only one with that type of vision and pass quality next to IWOBI AND OBI and Nwakali can actually score from midfield or freekicks.. when was the last time John Obi scored any goal or scored from a set play?? JOHN OBI IS NOT A #10 period. He’s a number 8 playing in a 10 position and too slow for that. IWOBI is a natural 10 playing as a left winger. Like how ridiculous is that.

With the type of players we have this should be our starting forwards… Iheanacho should start ahead of Ighalo and behind him should be Iwobi…on the right should be Moses and on the left should be Musa. That’s enough pace going forward with a player Like Iwobi who can seee all their runs and actually deliver a pass. Then right behind Iwobi should be John Obi Mikel and Etebo. At RB should be Ebuehi NOT Shehu. LB Idowu and our CB’s should be able to pick themselves and our GK is Uzoho period.

But that idea of playing John Obi Mikel as a 10 should stop. he’s lost his creative instincts in the final third he’s a deep lying playmaker let him play make from deep! Let IWOBI run the show he can do it. He’s done it for arsenal and he did it again in the 2nd half against England when he moved from the left into the middle you see what he did first time pass FORWARD NOT SIDEWAYS like ONazi and Obi were doing…IWOBI played a forward pass that found Ighalo who was able to take a shot and then IWOBI followed up with a nice rebound finish. BUT if Iwobi didn’t play a forward pass Ighalor would not have had the opportunity to take a shot let a lone a rebound. In the first Half Mikel played the 10 role and he didnt make any defense opening pass throughout that first half. Until IWOBI moved to that 10 role.

So my advice or suggestion is to drop Mikel to play deeper or dont start him.

Nigeria has won the world cup in my eyes. It is done! So I only express my gratitude to God in that regard.

However after England match, our coach blamed our performance on late coming. After Czech match, he still blamed late coming. Why are we also always going late sef? The same reason always. Oro eyin Eagles yii, O nfe amojuto oh. Lol. I hope we wont arrive our Croatia match venue after the match hahahahaha.

    • My brother you just said my mind. The excuse of late arrival doesn’t pass the smell test to me. I love our team and will always support her but I won’t agree with unnecessary excuses. We lost the match fair and square, he should either say it as it was or not even try to make excuses. If it’s not bad pitch it’s arriving late. As a coach the buck stops with u, if u don’t like the arrangement made, u should change it simple.

Aside, just saw the Senegal vs Croatia match on youtube, I couldn’t keep my eyes open as it was so boring I stopped watching after the 1st half, I had seen enough. All croatia did was just side way passes. Though tgey won Senegal 2:1, 9ja is capable of beating this team soundly imho.

God bless 9ja and its people

genart rohr is always making excuses, the truth is that he doesn’t know the abilities of our players. he doesn’t know what he has in etebo and ogu. he prefers to replace Mikel with iheanacho, who does that? Iheanacho is a player that can run with d ball and he needs plenty of time to decide on what to do with the ball. Etebo and iwobi in the midfield will bring a lot of creativity. Finally, it seems he beginning to see that ighalo is the type of striker that can guarantee u 1 goal in 12 matches. I will rather use an iheancho to be my striker than ighalo. Le me watch Croatia again this evening to know if we have e a chance or not

Seriously, you are on point. Always excuses. After the Croatia game, hope he won’t have another excuse again. I’m currently watching Croatia vs Senegal and gotta say we need our fast wingers in that game as their full backs especially corluka is very slow like a pregnant snake. also we can dominate them in terms of strength and serial prowess.

Bless naija. let’s work on out game and no excuses will be needed.

Please calm down guys. The original game plan of the Super Eagles is what we saw during the second half of our game against the English national team last Saturday. Forget about the poor display of some of the starting eleven in that match. Croatian scouts are everywhere the Super Eagles goes, trying to get a clue of our perfect tactics. Gernot Rohr was earlier informed of this by some of his aids and that’s why he’s not revealing anything yet. Those scouts aforementioned were at Wembley on Saturday, they left immediately after half-time. My name is Ayo, remember me and this comment after our match against Croatia next Friday…. God bless Nigeria!

Analysis from the game between Senegal and Croatia. A 3-5-2 will work for us like the senegalese used. The had more chances but failed to put them away. We need very fast wingers and attack. We need to attack in mass. 90% of croatian attack comes from the left side through Ivan Perisic. Their midfield trio of Modric-Rakitic and Rebic/Brozovic we have to dominate that space, Most especially when the are transition to attack, Perisic will most times go to the byline and send his ball to the box either for Modric or Kramaric to latch on Nidid must have to always be there any gap will be capitalised on. They play a traditional 4-3-3 If we use the 3-5-2 effectively we will have enough spaces to operate nd be compact defensively. One area Rohr needs to work on is set pieces. If Rohr can look at this areas we should overwhelm Croatia.

Coach has spoken well and I have said it after the last match that Super Eagles were tired. They are indeed tired. Guys, don’t you see what I’m seeing ni?

Traveling from one country to another is not an easy task. Also, some people started complaining about Abdullah Sehu and forgetting that this guy is fasting.

There is Ramadan fasting going on now and Sehu is not at is best, period. I am so happy for Sehu that Ramadan would be over before our first match then, we are going to see new sehu.

Thank God Mr. Rohr Knows that. So, my people, let’s take things easy. It is well in sha Allah. Happy weekend guys. God bless Nigeria!!!

For those that doesn’t understand why super eagle failed to performed, it isn’t bcoz of travelling fatigue or lose of form. It is bcoz of anxiety and winning the world cup by all means syndromes. Don’t forget that Germany also narrowly beaten Saudi Arabia 2-1 today, believed if they were to meet in Russia Germany is going to score nothing less than 5goals against them. Moreover if the eagle were to play another friendly match tomorrow or even on Friday next week a day to Croatia match, they are still going to lose just like they did recently. The reason is that they don’t even have interest in those friendly and it’s like they are forcing themselves to play these friendly and they honestly know winning all these friendly and crash out even in the round of 16, we are going to crucify them back home. Furthermore, I will like to plead to everyone to please bear with them bcoz emotional they are not okay with all those friendly and they are only playing it because we want them to play and not bcoz they love playing it this time that was why since Argentina match that they did play with all their head bcoz then they want to show the world that they are back to world biggest stage ever. This time all we need to show them is our love, backing and understanding that no matter the result of the friendly we are still with them so that they will relax and concentrate, trust me on 16, we are going to see the real eagle that qualified unbeaten and the challenger for the world cup trophy. God bless the super eagle

A Manager who allows his players to go late to the field of play is not a good and efficient Manager.

If I am Gernot Rohr, I will keep quiet even if I have an excuse for a loss of any match. The public is watching and they will see and make excuse for or against the team. Late arrival to a match venue with no proper warm ups is not good enough to hear. That is why it would have been better to keep quiet. One point though is this: Nigerians should see this WC as entertainment in competition. 198 countries started the race to qualify for the WC. Only 32 reached the finals in Russia. After the group stage, 16 countries will go home and same number will remain. Nigeria us not too small to be among the countries that will remain, neither is Nigeria too big to go home after the group stage. It is a 50/50 chance game with so many factors contributing to one’s stay or go. To be prepared for any eventualities, consider this face. It is an home work: HOW MANY COUNTRIES HAVE WON THE WC SINCE ITS INCEPTION? The answer will calm you. So what Nigerians need from the Super Eagles is to play well and not be an inferior team as against their opponents!!!!! Even if, I repeat, even if, it is only 3 matches we play, we should play well but narrowly loss the matches aka Loss Gallantly. This is what I want of the Super Eagles and I believed that is what most Nigerians want of their darling team, the Super Eagles.

    • What many people do not know is that the game of soccer can easily be equated with war, and specifically guerilla warfare. Don’t cringe, I am a pacifist myself, praying hard that all countries end conflict and embrace peace. But the analogy is worthwhile. It is not easy to fight a shadowy army. And that is what is happening with the SE. GR is hiding his strategy. The players are hiding their strategy. The NFF is even appearing deaf and dumb. No one is talking. Is it possible that a crack footballer like Joel Obi suddenly degenerates to a high school player? The full story will come out, but many unbelievers would be caught unaware. I believe the SuperEagles are going to float like butterflies and sting like bees in Russia (courtesy of Muhamed Ali). And they’ll start the startling performance against Croatia.

  • Gernot Rohr is a good coach, first for him to be able to qualify us from the group of death to the world cup make me to mark him as a good coach. His greatest mistake he has made so far which will affect him at the world cup is, Gernot Rohr is too
    sentimental for
    sticking to the core
    of the squad that
    qualified Nigeria for
    the world cup
    despite some clearly
    being no longer
good enough. He must stop giving us unnecessary excuses when ever he fail. We want him to try and bring the best from this team.
