Rojenny: Chukwu Will Restore Rangers’ Pride With Continental Glory

Christian Chukwu has been described as the right man to fully restore the pride of Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers, with a trophy-success in Africa, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (AKA Rojenny), the owner of Rojenny Games and Tourists' Village, Oba, near Onitsha, Anambra State, made this postulation Wednesday in an exclusive session with Completesportsnigeria.com.

Enugu Rangers new General Manager, Christian Chukwu is pictured above with the Flying Antelopes, and Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi just before team's departure to Algeria.

Chukwu will cut his manageria teeth this weekend in Costantine, Algeria, when he leads Enugu Rangers out against JS Saoura of Algeria in the CAF Champions League first round, first leg match.

"Appointing Christian Chukwu as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Enugu Rangers, to my mind, is akin to putting square peg in square hole," Chief Ezeonwuka who still takes pride in quartering Nigeria U-17 National Team, Golden Eaglets at his massive complex before they travelled to win the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan started during the chat.

"It is a wise decision by the Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

"Chukwu has the pedigree, he has the charisma, carriage and managerial accumen to turn Rangers fortunes around especially on the continental circuit.

"Do not forget that he captained the team to various national and international glories, including three National League trophies, three FA cup wins and the 1977 African Cup triumph.

"Chukwu equally captained the senior national team to win the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations, he was part of the Super Eagles coaching crew that qualified for the 1994 FIFA World Cup finals in the United States of America, USA.

"Despite being the first time out at the FIFA World Cup finals, the Super Eagles distinguished themselves with a second round appearance before losing to Italy.

"Having been a member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Technical Committee, Chukwu is well equipped technically and administratively to lead the Coal City Flying Antelopes to a new height."

On Rangers immediate task in Costantine against JS Saoura, Ezeonwuka – Eze Omenife of Oba, Anambra State, further demonstrated his sound knowledge of Chukwu's antecedents, insisting it will help the team a great deal.

"Rangers are reigning Nigeria league champions. They have a sound technical crew, and with Chukwu well versed in African football especially the Algeria terrain having been there before as a player and coach when the Super Eagles edged their Desert Foxes counterparts to qualify for the 1994 World Cup, there is no doubt the club will bank on that experience to excel on Friday,"  he posited.
