Rotherham United manager, Paul Warne, has stated that Nigeria defender, Semi Ajayi will get a big hug from him on his return from international break, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ajayi is expected to return to training later today (Thursday) with the Millers after playing the entire 90 minutes of Nigeria’s 0-0 friendly draw with the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday.
The centre-back also made a cameo appearance in the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg last Saturday.
Ajayi paired John Ogu at the heart of the team’s defence in the first half and played alongside William Troost-Ekong after the break against Uganda.
He got a remarkable rating following his impressive performance in the game played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
‘I’m told there are no issues. Semi has been travelling so he’ll come in and do very, very little today. I’m looking forward to seeing him again, I’ll give him a hug. Same with Marek,” Warne stated during his press conference ahead of Saturday’s south Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United.
The 25-year-old has featured in all 17 Championship games for Rotherham United this season but is yet to register a goal.
The former Arsenal player has featured twice for Nigeria following his debut against Seychelles in September.
