By Johnny Edward: Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi conceded his seventh goal of the season in action for Chippa United who forced Maritzburg United FC to a 1-1 draw in the South African ABSA Premiership league Double Diamond Derby at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.

Evans Rusikie gave Maritzburg United FC a 63rd miunte lead but scores were even nine minutes later through a strike from Chippa’s Mxolisi Macuphu.

The game was Akpeyi’s 14th appearance of the season for Chippa United and he has kept seven clean sheets so far this term.

Akpeyi’s compatriot, James Okwuosa missed a penalty in the 25th minute of the encounter in his 20th appearance for the club. The fringe Super Eagles defender has scored once and provided assist once so far this term.

Chippa United who are seventh in the log with 25 points from 19 games will host Platinum Stars on the 4th of February, 2018.

In Turkey, Nigerian duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Emem Eduok were handed starting roles in Kasimpasa’s 2-1 loss to Besiktas in the Turkish Super lig on Friday.

While Omeruo featured for the entire duration of the encounter, Eduok was replaced in the 70th minute by Mbaye Diagne.
