Nigeria striker Gbolahan Salami scored for KuPS in their 2-1 home win against IFK Mariehamn in their Finnish top flight fixture on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
It was Salami’s first goal since last scoring for KuPS in May in a 2-1 away win. Also in action for KuPS was Reuben Gabriel who played for 90 minutes.
Salami scored in the 68th minute to draw KuPS level after Aleksei Kangaskolkka had given Mariehamn the lead on 58 minute.
And in the 90th minute, Ville Saxman scored the winner to give KuPS the win.
Salami has now scored five goals in 16 league appearances for KuPS this current campaign.
The win saw KuPS move up to third on 36 points in the 12-team league table.
In the Dutch Eredivisie (top division), Belgian-born Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers was on target for Utrecht who beat visiting Willem II 2-0.
Zakaria Labyad opened scoring for Utrecht on two minutes before Dessers scored what proved to be the winner on seven minutes.
Dessers, 22, who has indicated interest to play for Nigeria, has now scored three goals in two league games so far this season.
In Turkey, Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi made his first appearance of the season for Trabzonspor as they held Fenerbahce to a 2-2 away draw.
Onazi, who was linked with a move to Birmingham City in the last few days but was denied a British work permit, was brought on in the 63rd minute.
In the Italian Serie A, Nigeria midfielder Joel Obi was on from the start before going off on 76 minutes as Roma held Bologna to a 1-1 away draw on the opening weekend of the season.
Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medal winner Umar Sadiq, who recently joined Torino, was an unused substitute.
And in the Belgian Jupiler league (top flight), Super Eagles winger Moses Simon made his second appearance for Gent who lost 3-2 away to Mouscron.
In Mouscron line-up was Liverpool on-loan striker Taiwo Awoniyi who played 90 minutes in the game which was his second. He has scored one goal for Mouscron.
Simon’s compatriots Samuel Kalu and Anderson Esiti were also in action for Gent. The game was Kalu’s fourth while it was Esiti’s third so far this season.
