Russia 2018: Maradona Charges Argentina To Improve Ahead Of Group D Clashes

Argentine legend and former coach, Diego Maradona, has charged La Albiceleste to improve to avoid taking their current poor form to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where they will face Nigeria, Iceland and Croatia in Group D , Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Argentina remain the hot favorites to advance from the group. But Maradona who helped conduct the FIFA World draw in Kremlin, Russia on Friday however expressed reservations over his country’s prospects.

“It is a feasible challenge because of the type of teams they are drawn with, but Argentina have to step up their game. They can not play as badly as they are doing,” Maradona told TYC Sports after the draw in Moscow.

The Super Eagles defeated Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly match in Russia on November 14 2017.

The Super Eagles will face the South Americans giants for the fifth time in the history of the tournament at the Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg on June 26, 2018. having lost their previous four games to the South Americans at the World Cup.
