By Richard jideaka, Abuja: As reactions continue to trail the African qualifying draw for the 2018 World Cup which pitted Nigeria in arguably the toughest group, national team coaches; Samson Siasia and Emmanuel Amuneke have expressed their belief that Super Eagles will qualify, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Siasia told Completesportsnigeria.com that the group which has Cameroon, Algeria, Zambia and Nigeria will be difficult, but that the never say die spirit of Nigerians will see the Super Eagles emerge tops from the group.
"Most people have written off Nigeria, but the truth is that you get the best of the Super Eagles when you don't give them a chance. I think the Eagles going into the qualifiers as underdogs is good, as it will bring out the best from everybody
"The key to qualification depends on how well the team prepares and how the NFF motivate the team to face their opponents. If the NFF put all the necessary things in place, I am sure the Eagles will qualify for Russia 2018," Siasia stated.
Nigeria U-20s coach, Amuneke on his part, does not believe any is a group of death, stressing that the last time that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for world Cup, Nigeria were not even drawn along with top teams, but have scaled through when the odds were against them to qualify.
"Group of death or not, the Super Eagles have what it takes to qualify if NFF do the right things and on time.
"Our group opponents are free to write us off at their peril because I am sure the Eagles will always rise to the occasion when the need arises and qualify," the Flying Eagles Chief coach stated.
